Student / Programme Doctorate at D-MAVT
Additional information
Matthias Becker has studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen University receiving his bachelor’s degree in 2018. In his master studies he focused on heterogeneous and molecular catalysis as well as polymer and materials science. During his master`s program, Matthias completed internships at the University of Toronto (research group of Prof. Douglas Stephan) and BASF SE (Ludwigshafen). For his master thesis, he joined the research group of Prof. Jeroen van Bokhoven at ETH Zurich, where he developed a synthetic approach to obtain geometrically well-defined support materials and investigated their effect on the catalytic properties of platinum.
In July 2021, Matthias joined the Laboratory of Energy Science and Engineering as a PhD student. His work focuses on heterogeneous metal oxide catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol.
