Propane dehydrogenation, catalysis
Melis Yarar received her BSc (2020) and MSc (2022) degrees from the Chemical Engineering department of the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. Her undergraduate study, performed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Deniz Uner, focused on the catalyst development for artificial photosynthesis. During this work, she visited TU Dortmund, where she investigated oxygen vacancy formation and the effect of the noble metal doping on TiO2 using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (EPR) in the group of JProf. Muge Kasanmascheff. During the MSc thesis, Melis focused on unravelling the principles of interaction of hydrogen with TiO2 and Pd/TiO2 surface. In October 2022, she joined the Laboratory of Energy Science and Engineering at ETH Zürich as a PhD student to investigate the role of different interfaces and speciation in model propane dehydrogenation catalysts.
