Qin Zhang

Qin ZHANG received her bachelor’s degree (2018) in chemistry from Wuhan University, China. During her undergraduate studies she worked as a research assistant on fluorescent Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for detection of biomarkers in Prof. Hexiang Deng’s lab. She did her bachelor project in Prof. Zhike He’s lab, where she synthesized a type of core/shell structured Quantum Dots with enhanced stability and fluorescent properties for in vitro detection of Alkaline Phosphatase. After graduation from Wuhan University, Qin came to EPFL, Switzerland for her master study and received her master’s degree in 2021. During her master’s, she had a semester project on electroreduction of CO2 to CO with nanostructured Zn catalysts in the lab of Prof. Andreas Züttel. She also did a six-month internship at Electro Medical Systems S.A. in Nyon for the innovation of dental powder. Her master project, performed in the group of Prof. Raffaele Mezzenga, was about enzyme catalyzed organic synthesis confined in lipidic mesophases. In October 2022, Qin joined the LESE group as a Ph.D. student, now focusing on the development of supported intermetallic catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation and the understanding of their structure-catalytic performance relationships with in-situ and operando methods.
